Current evaluation
HaHaHelps is currently being formally evaluated through a University of Cape Town Master’s research study across child and youth care settings in South Africa. The study combines participant measures collected before, after, and following the programme with qualitative interviews, and includes a comparison group to strengthen the evaluation of programme outcomes.
The study examines changes in:
• confidence and self-expression
• peer connection and belonging
• emotional and social wellbeing
• coping with uncertainty
• self-esteem
Planned next steps
Next steps include:
• completing the current multi-site evaluation with University of Cape Town support
• refining a standardised delivery and facilitator-training model
• sharing findings through academic publication and conference presentations
• using evaluation findings to guide responsible programme expansion
Transparency note
Early findings presented on this page come from initial real-world programme delivery and should be interpreted as preliminary. A formal University of Cape Town evaluation is now underway using strengthened quantitative and qualitative methods, including a comparison group.
