Programme & Sessions

HaHaHelps Programme

HaHaHelps is a structured, trauma-sensitive psychosocial programme that uses guided improvisational comedy to help youth build confidence, connection, and emotional resilience in a supportive group setting.

The programme works alongside existing support systems, extending reach to youth who may not engage with traditional services and creating accessible on-ramps to help-seeking.

Who it’s for: youth aged 10–17, adaptable by context
Format: 8 weeks x 1/week, 4 weeks x 2/week, or 3 weeks x 3/week
Group size: 8–10 participants
Delivery: facilitated sessions, with optional co-facilitation

Core outcomes: confidence and self-expression, emotional regulation, peer connection, perspective-taking, help-seeking, coping with uncertainty

Sample session arc

Each session follows a simple, consistent structure combining guided improv games with reflection and group connection.

1. Check-in

A brief opening circle where participants share how they’re feeling and arrive into the space. Sharing is always optional.

2. Improv + reflection cycles

A series of guided improv games, each followed by short, targeted reflection prompts that connect the experience to real-life situations, including confidence, relationships, coping, and communication.

This cycle is repeated throughout the session, allowing participants to practise skills in different contexts.

3. Closing circle

A final group reflection where participants name takeaways and identify what they want to carry into the week.

What makes HaHaHelps different?

HaHaHelps is intentionally designed to engage youth who may not respond to traditional talk-based approaches. By using play, humour, and group interaction, the programme lowers barriers to participation and creates a space where young people can practise real-life skills in real time.

Rather than focusing on discussion alone, youth actively experience confidence, collaboration, and problem-solving through guided activities—then reflect on how those moments translate to their everyday lives.

Inclusion & safety

Participation is always opt-in. There is no forced disclosure. Sessions are designed with clear content boundaries, structured facilitation, and built-in debriefs. Facilitators are trained to respond appropriately and refer participants to additional support when needed.

How it’s delivered

HaHaHelps can be delivered in two ways:

Direct delivery

  • HaHaHelps facilitators run the programme with youth in your organisation.

Train-the-facilitator model

  • Staff within your organisation are trained to deliver the programme themselves, supporting long-term integration and scalability.

This flexible model allows HaHaHelps to integrate into existing services and expand across different settings.
